Digital Preservation Policies and Planning at ICPSR

An organization's digital preservation intentions and activities are best expressed through the organization's policies, plans, procedures, and related documents. Digital preservation represents an essential process in the lifecycle of digital content that should be integrated into the workings of the organization. A primary objective of the Digital Preservation at ICPSR initiative is to demonstrate how ICPSR is addressing digital preservation requirements.

ICPSR Digital Preservation Documents

To fully document its digital preservation priorities and program, ICPSR is developing these digital preservation policies and related documents.

ICPSR Digital Preservation Policy Framework

The most comprehensive digital preservation policy for ICPSR's digital preservation program is the ICPSR Digital Preservation Policy Framework. This high-level policy document was approved internally at ICPSR and by the ICPSR Council in June 2007. There is also a proposed model (pdf 62K) for a digital preservation policy framework that any organization may use to develop their own policy framework.
