Search by Geography

Search for studies using a graphical world map.

Search by Series

Browse studies in the archive by series.

Some studies listed on the TPDRC Web site are freely available to everyone because organizations such as the U.S. Department of Justice supported their processing; other studies listed under the TPDRC site are available only to those connected with an institution that supports the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). If you locate a membership-only study that fits your research needs and would like to purchase it, you can find more information about this process on the Nonmember Access to Data page. If you identify several studies or are interested in joining ICPSR, you can find more information about the benefits of membership on the Membership Benefits page.

Quantitative Data & Documentation

Variable-Level Searching

This feature searches the variable and value labels across all TPDRC data files that are publicly available. Some TPDRC files have question text included as part of the metadata and, when available, question text is also included in the search.

Here are some general guidelines for using the variable-level search below:

Searches are not case-sensitive.
Quotation marks are interpreted literally so don't use them.
Only whole words are matched -- no wildcards or partial words.
Try different forms of the search term or use synonyms (e.g., employ, employment, job, work).
Be patient. This program searches thousands of variables and can sometimes be slow.

Enter search term:

On the Search Results page under each citation, you will find a link to related studies in the ICPSR archive. These are the data collections used by the authors to generate their findings.

Please use the ICPSR main search to search all ICPSR holdings.
